Notice of review of ILDRA Policy regarding the progression of horses to 80km, 120, and 160km distances.

The Board of Directors have decided to undertake a detailed review of the above policy. A sub committee has been appointed to undertake this review. As part of this process the subcommittee are inviting all members to make written submissions on this policy. These submissions should outline your views on the content of the policy and any other issues you deem relevent.

The subcommittee will also accept oral submissions by arrangement. It is intended that a date in late August will be set aside so that the full sub committee can meet with members who wish to make oral submissions.

The timescale for this task is as follows,

Final date for acceptance of written submissions--- 31st July 06

Final date for making appointments for oral

Submissions 31st July 06

Final date for oral submissions End of August 06

Sub committee report to the Board of Directors End of September

It is intended that the full policy will be published on the ILDRA web site during the first 10 days of October 2006.

The subcommittee have been advised to seek advice from a range of professional persons who are familiar or have expertise in the area of long distance riding. This will include professional based in Ireland and those operating abroad.
