ILDRA RIDE AT MOURNE PARK

ILDRA RIDE AT MOURNE PARK

The Irish Long Distance Riding Association held their first ever ride at Mourne Park near Kilkeel on Sunday 14th August. This new venue proved to be an excellent choice for Pleasure Riding. A large parking area was made available beside the golf course and the trails then led up through parkland to the forest behind. The weather was warm and almost fifty riders took part on the seven-mile loop. Ride organiser Susan Sedgeman had marked out a trail that took in a short river section and a longer loop around the back of the mountain.

A number of younger riders took part and several yellow logbooks for the Horse Shoe scheme were marked up. This scheme encourages our youngest members and recent achievers include Mark Hyndmann and Paddy Erskine who both attained ‘Pleasure Horse Shoe’ awards. Well done lads!
