ILDRA RIDE AT CASTLEWELLAN
ILDRA opened their 2006 season with a Pleasure Ride at Castlewellan Forest
Park run by Liz McKimm. The route covered the normal eight-mile loop that
first climbs to the hills at the back of the forest and then returns home
along a lower route close to the lake. Slieve Donard, visible from some of the
higher trails, had snow covering its upper slopes so the day was crisp and
cool, but thankfully dry and still.
There was a good turnout with regulars, newcomers, children, teenagers, and
mature riders, all mounted on every variety of horse and pony. Liz reported an
entry of over seventy individuals, which was an excellent start to the New
Year for ILDRA.
ILDRA would also like to remind its members that annual subscriptions, and
logbook renewals are now due and that these can be paid either by post, or at
rides.
ILDRA wishes all its supporters a successful year for 2006.
